From Homemaker to Entrepreneur: Women Who Rose

They arrived unsure of themselves, many having never earned a rupee of their own. Today they run stitching units, sell handicrafts and lead self-help groups. These are the women of Academe India Foundation.

Skills that change everything

Financial independence transforms a woman’s place in her home and her community. Our skill-training centres teach tailoring, handicrafts and digital skills — practical abilities that translate directly into income.

But we teach more than skills. We build confidence, financial literacy and the courage to dream bigger.

A model built on solidarity

  • Hands-on tailoring, stitching and handicraft training
  • Digital and smartphone skills for the modern economy
  • Self-help groups that build savings and mutual support
  • Financial literacy — budgeting, banking and saving
  • Guidance and linkages to start small enterprises

The dignity of earning

When a woman earns, the benefits multiply: her children stay in school longer, her family eats better, and her voice grows stronger at home and beyond. Many of our graduates now train others — turning one woman’s rise into a movement.

Give a woman a skill and you don’t help one person — you lift her children, her home and her whole neighbourhood.
